Kaamatan Harvest Festival


Kaamatan Harvest Festival is Malaysia national  celebration  .It is celebrated by the Kadazan Dusun Murut ethnic group in Sabah  to mark the ending of paddy harvesting.The celebration has been made a public holiday and fall on the 30 and 31st of May every year. The peak of celebration is held at Hongkod Koisan Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association hall,Kota Kinabalu.Cultural show performance by various ethnic group is  an attraction making it a huge crowd puller.
The final event of the day is the selection of a beauty queen known locally as Unduk Ngadau.Participants came from every districts.Visitors are also treated to locally brewed beer and variety of foods by the organiser,Sabah Tourism Board   .Some visitors even joined in the  fun by participating in the  cultural dance.






For those who wish to see and joined in the celebration,they had to make an early plan especially with the accomodation requirement.During this event, hotels  are normally fully occupied making earlier reservation very helpful.Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan which means happy harvest festival
